Paul Launois 2018 Single Barrel Auction with Tasting Notes

Paul Launois 2018 Single Barrel Auction with Tasting Notes

On June 14th Paul Launois will host a Vintage 2018 Single Barrel auction. Julien Launois has selected two of his best parcels of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger to vinify his “Single Barrel 2018”. The 5 toasts of the 10 new oak barrels, made by “Tonnellerie Artisanale de Champagne” and a conscientious bâtonnage (stirring of lees) has led to a selection of 10 unique still wines for Champagne.

Known as one of the best terroirs in Champagne, Le Mesnil Sur Oger ensures the quality and the rarity of these wines.

Mr Philippe Jamessean eminent wine expert specialised in Champagne, former Head Sommelier at Les Crayeres in Reims and the creator of the Jamesse Prestige Glass Collection, is the official consultant for this event. He has kindly provided tasting notes below that will help bidders guide their bids in order to select their “Single barrel” and get their oenological adventure started.

ChampagneHub will be attending the auction and will be bidding on a Barrel. We will give you the change to take part in this adventure, without having to buy an entire barrel yourself. The wines will be delivered after the mandatory ageing period of 3 years for a Vintage Champagne or after 10 years for those that would prefer extended ageing and late-disgorgement. Rules and prices are described in the Rare Champagne Auction Lots page.
